Lab Hours for Every Kind of Researcher

Lab Hours for Every Kind of Researcher

Every serious laboratory runs on a schedule. Coco Lab 172 runs on a slightly looser one: doors open at 09:00, every day of the week, and stay open until 20:30, or until the lab runs out of carbs, whichever the bagels decide comes first. That leaves eleven and a half hours of research time. The question is not whether to visit, but when. After extensive internal review, the lab has prepared the following guide.

The Hypothesis

Different researchers need different conditions. A dog walker at 09:00 has very different requirements from a brunch group at noon on a Saturday. Matching the right person to the right hour and the right order should produce better results across the board. Call it a controlled study in timing.

Subject A: The Dog Walker

Recommended window: 09:00, opening time.

The first walk of the day ends best with a coffee, and the lab is open and ready for it. A Cortado is the efficient choice: small, strong and finished before the leash gets restless. Pair it with the Egg & Cheese bagel, with scrambled egg, cream cheese and emmental, which is a reliable start for anyone already on their feet. The best part of this trial requires no special arrangement. Dogs are always on the guest list here, so the second researcher in the pair is welcome inside too.

Subject B: The Weekend Brunch Group

Recommended window: late morning to early afternoon, Saturday or Sunday.

Group studies need a wide sample, and the menu delivers one. One member takes the Smoked Salmón bagel with capers, red onion and dill. Another takes the Ham, Egg & Truffle. Someone always wants something lighter, which is what the Açaí bowl is for. Round out the table with a Fresh Orange Juice and a Strawberry Matcha. The result is a spread that looks planned, even if nobody actually planned it.

Subject C: The Short-Visit Researcher

Recommended window: any time at all.

Some researchers only have five minutes between appointments. The fastest results in the lab are an Espresso and an Orange~Ginger Shot, made with fresh orange and raw ginger and served in a small cup. Two drinks, a few minutes, and the day continues with noticeably more momentum.

The Variable Nobody Controls

There is one more category: the researcher who arrives late in the day. With the lab open until 20:30, the evening is a valid testing window. The Pastrami bagel, with cream cheese, emmental, dijon mustard and red onion, makes a strong case that bagels are not only a morning food.

The Conclusion

The data is clear: there is no wrong time to visit, only different experiments. Coco Lab 172 is at Carrer Gran de Gràcia, 172, open daily from 09:00 to 20:30. Pick your hour, pick your order, and bring the dog. Serious science. Zero seriousness.
