Why We Called It The Purple Magic

Why We Called It The Purple Magic
Every department at Coco Lab 172 has a name that sounds more like a case file than a menu section. The bagels are The Carb Experiments. The coffee is The Liquid Energy. The juices are The Vitamin Bombs. And the açaí bowl, the quietest, most photogenic item in the whole lineup, is filed under The Purple Magic.
It's an odd name for a bowl of fruit and granola, until you actually look at what's in front of you.
The Color Does Most of the Talking
Banana, strawberries, blueberries, granola, grated coconut, on paper, none of that sounds purple. But açaí itself carries a deep, almost unnatural shade of violet, the kind of color that looks more like a lab result than a fruit. That's not an accident of branding. It's just what açaí actually looks like, and the name leans into it instead of pretending otherwise.
Magic, Because Nobody Believes It's This Simple
Here's the part that actually earns the second half of the name. A bowl this consistently good, made from five real ingredients and nothing else, tends to make people ask what the trick is. There isn't one. The "magic" is really just restraint, five ingredients that all pull their weight, nothing added to disguise a weaker base.
Fitting the Rest of the Lab
Every other department name plays the same game, dressing up something straightforward in language that sounds more serious than it needs to be. The Carb Experiments is just bagels. The Liquid Energy is just coffee. The Vitamin Bombs are just juice. The Purple Magic follows the same logic, an ordinary, well-made thing given a name confident enough to make people wonder if there's more going on than there actually is.
Why the Name Sticks
A good department name does two things at once: it makes people smile, and it tells them exactly what to expect once they stop smiling long enough to order. The Purple Magic does both. One glance at the color makes the name make sense immediately, and one bite confirms there was never really a trick to begin with.
